What to expect at the Sterling church of Christ
A church grounded in biblical faith
Our plea is to restore first century Christianity. In the first century the followers of Christ
were all members of one church.(Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 4:4-5) They were united in purpose
and plan because they all accepted Christ and his word. Churches of Christ are dedicated to
a restoration of the unity, which existed in the Lord’s church at its beginning.
In humility, we cherish the hope that this congregation may speak where the bible speaks
and be silent where the bible is silent, preach the gospel to the lost, strengthen the saved,
and point the way to everlasting life to all whose lives we touch.
A church built on Christ the foundation
The church of Christ is built on the foundation that Christ himself laid and is completely
independent. Here at 16th Avenue, we try to meet your needs from a scriptural basis.
We always seek good judgment using Gods desire in any decision that is made, and are open
to suggestions that will benefit the congregation. If at any time you have questions there
will be a group of Christians ready to assist you.
Christians here at the church of Christ try to use the talent that God has given them to bring
peace and happiness to others that we ourselves have found through Jesus the Christ.
A church with a solid history
The church of Christ first assembled together in Sterling during November of 1950. The first meetings were held in the YWCA with approximately 10 people present. The church had many different homes until 5 acres were purchased and the present building was constructed. Through the years many Christians have served and left a legacy that continues to bring joy to all who attend. The church has grown quite a bit since those first few but the spirit of love is still the same.

As members of the church of Christ, we try to be caring, compassionate and Christ centered. Here at 16th Avenue. we want to provide true meaningful worship and sound Christian education. Our goal is to make your experience with us comfortable and uplifting. We wish to provide a family atmosphere and one that nurtures the community through Christ.
